Starlink, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Elon Musk's SpaceX, has begun hiring in India. The company has posted several job postings on LinkedIn for its Bengaluru office, suggesting that it may soon launch satellite communications (SatCom) operations in India and provide internet services to remote areas of the country. Starlink received approval from Indian regulators in July, accelerating its operational plans. This move comes after reports that Starlink is preparing to set up gateway Earth stations in multiple locations.

Elon Musk's SpaceX has posted four job openings on LinkedIn for its Starlink Bengaluru office in India. The company is hiring a payments manager, an accounting manager, a senior treasury analyst, and a tax manager. The job descriptions state that this is part of Starlink's strategy to expand its "international footprint" to offer services worldwide. These openings were posted about a week ago.

The payments manager will monitor payment success rates, fraud rates, settlements, and reconciliation data on a daily and weekly basis. The tax manager will prepare data and coordinate with external service providers. This role will also involve handling tax payments and calculations. Additionally, Starlink is preparing to build a global treasury infrastructure with the help of a senior treasury analyst.

This comes days after reports that the SpaceX subsidiary is planning to bring in foreign technical experts to set up its gateway stations in India. The report also stated that initially, only Indian citizens will be allowed to work at these stations until the Ministry of Home Affairs grants security clearance to foreign experts.

The company is reportedly planning to build gateway earth stations in locations such as Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Noida. These stations will act as relay points to establish and maintain connections between the satellite and receivers on Earth.

In July, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) granted Starlink a license to use the satellite to launch commercial operations in India. The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) told Reuters that the company's license is valid for five years. Previously, Eutelsat's OneWeb and Reliance Jio had also received this approval.
