Social media

OpenAI is now moving towards making ChatGPT an all-in-one social app. Recently, the company introduced the Sora 2 video generation model, followed by the launch of a TikTok-like AI video app. Now, in this vein, preparations are underway to add social interaction to ChatGPT.

New Apps SDK for Developers

Earlier this month, OpenAI released the Apps SDK, which allows developers to create their own specialized AI apps within ChatGPT. This move is considered a direct challenge to platforms like the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Preparing for a Direct Messaging Feature

According to reports, OpenAI is working on introducing a Direct Message (DM) feature to ChatGPT. This will allow users to communicate with each other as if they were on a social media app. Information about this feature was shared by Tibor Blaho, Lead Engineer at AIPRM.com.

Users will be able to group chat and brainstorm

According to Blaho, ChatGPT users will be able to engage in activities like discussing ideas, project planning, searching, image creation, and chatting together through this feature. However, to maintain privacy, no user will have access to another's personal ChatGPT memory.

Invite Links and Group Chats Also Available

According to reports, OpenAI may also allow users to join group chats via invite links. However, it is currently unclear whether these chats will come with end-to-end encryption, like WhatsApp or Signal.

Data Privacy Again a Major Question
It's worth noting that OpenAI has faced privacy challenges in the past. When the company added the "Share" feature in August, many users' private chats became public on Google Search. The company subsequently had to work with the search engine to have the data removed.
