Snapchat: Snapchat Memories has a storage limit, now 5GB is free, after which you'll have to pay..

Snapchat has made a major change to its Memories feature. While users could save unlimited photos and videos, this feature is now limited to just 5GB of free storage. After that, users will need to purchase a subscription plan for additional storage.
New Storage Plans
Snapchat has introduced different Memories storage plans. The Basic plan offers 100GB of storage for $1.99 per month, a Snapchat+ subscription offers 250GB of storage for $3.99 per month, and the Platinum plan offers 5TB of storage for $15.99 per month.
Who will be affected?
The company says that most users don't even reach 5GB, so they won't be affected. However, users who use Snapchat as a photo archive will either have to delete their old snaps or switch to a paid plan.
One-Year Grace Period
Users who have already stored data above the 5GB limit will be granted a temporary one-year grace period. During this time, they can manage their storage or choose a new plan.
Monetization Strategy
Snapchat has taken this step to explore new revenue streams. Recently, the company launched the Lens+ subscription ($9/month), which offers exclusive AR (augmented reality) effects. Now, by including cloud storage in its subscription model, Snapchat has joined the ranks of companies like Google and Apple. Overall, if you use Snapchat solely for chatting and fun, this change may not be significant. However, if you've stored your memories for years, you'll now have to pay the price to preserve them.
