Most people don't pay attention to some important things when setting up a new phone. Because of this, they often complain about the phone's performance, battery life, and display. They often assume there's something wrong with the phone they bought, when the real reason for the poor performance is something else entirely. In fact, some settings should be changed immediately after buying a phone. This significantly improves the phone's performance. If you also didn't change the necessary settings while setting up your phone, let's tell you which settings you should change immediately without delay.

Choose Gesture Navigation
When we set up a new phone, it asks us to choose between a three-button layout and gesture navigation. If you want to use your phone smoothly, you should choose gesture navigation at this point. This prevents the three buttons from taking up space at the bottom of your phone's display, and you can control the phone using touch gestures.

This is a much easier and better way to control your phone. With it, you can swipe from either side of the screen to go back and swipe up from the bottom to see which apps are active in the background. Similarly, you can swipe down from the top to access quick settings.

If you didn't turn on gesture navigation while setting up your phone, go to your phone's Settings > System > Gestures > System Navigation and select Gesture Navigation.

Remove or Disable Bloatware and Pre-installed Apps
During phone setup, the smartphone informs you about the extra apps that come pre-installed on the phone. Often, during the setup process, there's an option to avoid installing these apps, but people overlook it and end up installing numerous unnecessary apps, degrading their phone's performance and battery life. Therefore, after setting up your phone, the first thing you should do is remove the pre-installed apps. This prevents unnecessary load on your phone's processor and keeps the performance smooth.

Choose the Right Refresh Rate
Most smartphones come with a high refresh rate display, but by default, a low refresh rate or automatic refresh rate is selected. This allows the phone to decide how high the refresh rate should be. After setting up your phone, you should go to the display settings and set the refresh rate to high. This will give you a smoother experience across the entire phone.

Choose the Best Display Quality
Similar to the refresh rate, the phone's display quality is also set to a low setting by default. As a result, many people never experience the full potential of their phone's display. Therefore, you should go to the display settings in your phone's settings and set the screen resolution to high. In some smartphones, this is labeled as HD, UHD, or QHD. Choose the highest setting to enjoy the true quality of your display.

Choose the Right Battery Mode
Like the display settings, the phone's battery or performance mode is also set to a low setting by default. Companies do this to save battery life, but it affects the phone's performance. However, if battery backup is your top priority, you can leave it on the default setting. But if you want full performance from your phone, you can go to the battery settings and select Boost Mode or Performance Mode.
