SIR form: How to fill the SIR form online, after Bihar, Election Commission is now conducting SIR in 12 states..

A few days ago, the Election Commission announced a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in 12 states and union territories. The SIR process has begun in all 12 states. The Election Commission's Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are distributing SIR forms door-to-door. The Election Commission states that voters can also fill out the SIR form online.

Regarding SIR, the Election Commission states that it is conducting SIR to remove duplicate names and deceased voters from the voter list. This process is typically conducted before every election. If you have relocated to another city or district or are unable to fill out the SIR form offline for any other reason, we are providing detailed information on how to fill out the form online and the required documents.

Requirements for Filling Out the SIR Online
If you wish to fill out the SIR form online, you must first link your voter ID to your mobile number. If your mobile number is not linked to your voter ID, you will need to fill out Form 8. By filling out Form 8 online, you can instantly link your mobile number to your Voter ID or EPIC number. You should also keep in mind that the information on your Voter ID must match the information on your Aadhaar card.

How to fill out the SIR form online?
To fill out the SIR form online, you must register on the Election Commission's voter portal https://voters.eci.gov.in. After registering, you must log in to this portal. This portal will be open from November 4th to December 4th.

Step 1 - Register or Log in to the Voter Portal

On the home page of this portal, you will find several options. Here, tap the "Search Your Name in Voter List" option. This option is marked in blue in the screenshot below. If you see the previous SIR list, you can also search for your name there. The previous SIR list option is marked in red in the screenshot.

Step 2 - Searching for Voter Names in Previous SIRs

First, you need to select your state, district, assembly constituency, and polling station, and open the voter list for the previous SIR. Now, you need to search for your name or your parents' names in this list. You need to check whether your name, your parents', or your grandparents' names appear in the previous SIR.

Step 3 - Filling Out the Enumeration Form 2026

To update your name in the SIR, you need to fill out the 2026 Enumeration Form. To do this, open the home page of the website https://voters.eci.gov.in. On the home page, click on 'Fill Enumeration Form'. After clicking this button, the Enumeration Form page will open on your screen.

On the next page, enter your state and your voter ID card's EPIC number and click the search button.

Upon clicking the search button, a pre-filled Enumeration Form will appear on your screen. You need to verify this information. This information should be the same as on your Aadhaar card. If different, you will need to contact your BLO.

Below, you will need to add the 10-digit mobile number linked to your voter ID card. The OTP received on your mobile will allow you to update your information. If your mobile number is not linked to your voter ID card, you will also get the option to link it here. To do this, you will need to fill out Form 8.

Step 4: Mapping Voter Details to SIR

After verifying the OTP, users will see three options. You must select one of these:

Name is present in the voter list of the previous SIR.

Parents' or grandparents' names are present in the previous SIR.

Neither the voter's name nor the parents' name is present in the voter list

If your name is present, you can enter your family members' information. If your name is not present in the previous SIR, you will need to enter your parents' or grandparents' names and information. You will find this information in Step 1.

You must be extremely careful when filling out your voter details. The name must be the same as the previous SIR, Aadhaar, and EPIC. If the name has changed, you will need to fill out the form offline. If you have an EPIC number, all the information will be pre-filled in the form.

Carefully check the information displayed on the form, such as name, age, gender, and address. If any information needs to be updated, do so. You must also upload a passport-sized photo with a white background, clearly showing your face. The Election Commission states that uploading a photo is not mandatory for the SIR process. Once you have completed the form, you can track the status of your SIR form on the same portal.

Step 5 - Aadhaar Verification

After filling out the enumeration form information, you will be taken to the 'Aadhaar E-sign' page by clicking the submit button. Now, enter your Aadhaar number and click on the generated OTP. Your enumeration form will be completed after verifying the OTP received on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
