If you want to avoid the hassle of repeatedly recharging your mobile, a prepaid plan with one-year validity could be a great option—especially for those who wish to keep their number active all year with just a single recharge. Both Vi and BSNL offer such plans, but their benefits differ significantly.

At first glance, Vi’s ₹2,249 plan and BSNL’s ₹2,799 plan might seem similar, but there is a major difference in the data and SMS benefits they offer. Let’s take a simple look at both plans.

What do you get with Vi’s ₹2,249 plan?
Vi’s ₹2,249 plan comes with a validity of 365 days. It offers a total of 30GB of high-speed data for the entire year. Additionally, users get 3,600 SMS and unlimited local and STD calling for the 365-day period.

This works out to a daily cost of approximately ₹6.2. However, the 30GB data is not provided on a daily basis; instead, it is allocated as a lump sum for the entire year. This makes the plan a practical choice if your data usage is low.

Once the 30GB data limit is exhausted, internet usage is charged at 50 paise per MB. Similarly, after the 3,600 SMS limit is reached, charges apply at ₹1 per local SMS and ₹1.5 per STD SMS.

More data with BSNL’s ₹2,799 plan
BSNL’s ₹2,799 annual plan may be a better choice for users who require a significant amount of daily internet data. It offers 3GB of data per day. It also includes unlimited local and STD calling for the entire year, along with a daily allowance of 100 SMS. After the daily 3GB data limit is exhausted, the internet will continue to run at a reduced speed of 40kbps. This plan also comes with a one-year validity. However, the daily cost works out to approximately ₹7.7, which is slightly higher than the Vi plan.

Vi ₹2,249 vs. BSNL ₹2,799: Which plan is better?
If your priority is a low-cost plan offering one-year validity and calling, and you do not require a large amount of data, then Vi's ₹2,249 plan could be the better choice.

On the other hand, if you are a heavy user of mobile data, BSNL's ₹2,799 plan offers better value. It provides 3GB of data daily, 100 SMS, and unlimited calling.

However, before selecting a recharge plan, be sure to check the network coverage of both Vi and BSNL in your area. A yearly plan is truly beneficial only if the network in your region is reliable and strong.
