Report: The Advertising Industry Is Being Transformed by AI, Opening Up a Major Opportunity for India..
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer confined merely to chatbots or content generation; it is also rapidly transforming the operational landscape of the global advertising industry. According to a report by the consulting firm RedSeer, AI is making the advertising sector smarter, more data-driven, and results-oriented. Amidst this transformation, India appears to be strongly positioned to emerge as a global hub for leading AdTech companies.
**India's Technological Prowess: The Strongest Foundation**
According to the report, approximately 2.7 million students enroll in engineering and technology programs in India every year. Furthermore, the country is home to nearly 24 million GitHub developers. Additionally, there are approximately 1,900 active Global Capability Centers (GCCs) generating export revenue ranging from $65 billion to $75 billion.
This vast technological ecosystem provides a robust foundation for the development of AI-based products and platforms. This is precisely why India is poised to become the next major global hub for AdTech innovation.
**AI Reshaping the Entire Advertising Framework**
The global advertising market has now surpassed the $1 trillion mark. Consequently, AI is impacting nearly every facet of this industry. Processes such as media buying, creative content generation, performance measurement, e-commerce, and customer targeting are rapidly becoming AI-driven.
The report indicates that digital advertising now accounts for 75% to 80% of total global advertising expenditure. Of this share, 80% to 85% of advertisements are already being executed using programmatic technology.
**India's Digital Advertising Market Set for Rapid Growth by 2030**
RedSeer estimates that India's digital advertising market will reach a valuation of approximately $21 billion in 2025. By 2030, this figure is projected to grow to between $33 billion and $42 billion. This growth is expected to provide a significant boost to AI-based advertising technologies and startups. According to Mukesh Kumar, Associate Partner at RedSeer Strategy Consultants, AI is not merely introducing a new technology to the advertising industry; rather, it is fundamentally redefining the entire ecosystem.
He noted that the engineering prowess required for technologies such as machine learning-based bidding systems, identity graphs, transformer-based recommendation engines, and agentic advertising frameworks is something India has cultivated over the past three decades.
**Indian Companies Are Building Global Products—Not Just Services**
According to the report, AdTech companies of Indian origin are no longer confined to merely providing technical services. They are emerging as global product companies and are adopting more lucrative, software- and platform-based business models.
With the increasing adoption of AI, robust data infrastructure, superior networks, and open ecosystems featuring advanced AI capabilities will serve as the primary pillars of global competitiveness in the future. India appears to be rapidly consolidating its position in this race.
