WhatsApp New Feature: WhatsApp may soon introduce a feature that automatically routes messages from large business accounts into a separate ‘Offers & Updates’ folder.

WhatsApp New Feature: WhatsApp has become a widely used messaging app today. To enhance the user experience, Meta has decided to introduce a new feature. Meta is rolling out a feature that will automatically move frequent business messages on WhatsApp into a separate folder. This will make it easier to manage everyday conversations separately from information like offers, delivery updates, or banking notifications.

A new change coming to WhatsApp

According to media reports, WhatsApp may soon launch a feature that automatically directs messages from large business accounts to a separate ‘Offers & Updates’ folder. Currently, this feature is being tested with select companies. The goal is to prevent users’ main chat lists from becoming cluttered with unwanted messages. If this feature is released to all users, personal chats and business messages will appear separately, making it much easier to locate important conversations.

Which messages will be shifted?

For your information, business-related messages will be routed to this new folder, including:

  1. Online order delivery updates
  2. Bank or service notifications
  3. Discount offers and promotional messages
  4. Coupon and cashback information
  5. Booking or order status updates

This will keep your personal conversations separate from work-related messages, resulting in a more organized chat list.

Messages from large businesses will be separated

According to reports, this feature will initially apply only to large business accounts that use the WhatsApp Business Platform. These include banks, airlines, e-commerce companies, large retail stores, and other major enterprises.

Initially, such messages will appear in your standard chat list, but after a short time, WhatsApp will automatically move them to the ‘Offers & Updates’ folder. The company is currently testing various timeframes for this feature, ranging from a few hours to approximately 24 hours.

Users Will Retain Control

It is worth noting that WhatsApp does not intend to make this feature mandatory. If a user prefers to keep seeing all business messages in the main chat list—just as before—they have the option to disable this feature.

However, users will not be able to determine exactly how long it takes for messages to move to the new folder; WhatsApp will set this timeframe, and it may be subject to change during the testing phase.

Small Businesses Not Included for Now

According to reports, this feature is currently limited to large business accounts. Small shopkeepers, local businesses, and accounts using the standard WhatsApp Business app are not included at this stage. However, if the feature proves successful, Meta may make it available to small business owners in the future.

Why Meta Is Making This Change

In recent years, WhatsApp has evolved beyond being merely a messaging app; it has become a major platform for business, online shopping, banking, and customer service. Millions of companies use WhatsApp to provide customers with order updates, offers, and support.

Consequently, the volume of business messages in many users’ chat lists has been steadily increasing. Meta believes that segregating these messages will make it easier for people to locate their personal chats and will improve the overall app experience.

Benefits for Users

If this feature is rolled out to all users, WhatsApp’s main chat list will appear much cleaner and more organized. Personal chats and messages from family and friends will be easily accessible, while offers, banking alerts, and delivery updates will be safely stored in a separate folder. This ensures that important business information is not lost while simultaneously enhancing the daily chat experience.
