RailMadad App New Features: Passengers often face issues such as unclean seats, water shortages, malfunctioning fans or ACs, and poor food quality while traveling by train. Indian Railways' RailMadad app has been the most effective tool for addressing these grievances. Significant changes are now being introduced regarding water shortages on trains, food quality in premium trains like Vande Bharat, complaint registration via PNR and QR codes, and OTP-related protocols.

The Railway administration is comprehensively upgrading the RailMadad system to resolve issues such as fake complaints, repetitive reporting of the same problem, and information failing to reach the appropriate department. Under the new system, the entire process—from registering a complaint to its resolution—will become more transparent and efficient.

Here are 5 major changes coming to the RailMadad app:
Precise solution for water issues on trains
If a train coach runs out of water, a complaint registration will immediately trigger an alert to the technical team at the next station equipped with watering facilities. This ensures water can be refilled promptly upon the train's arrival.

Monitoring food quality in Vande Bharat and premium trains
A new system is being implemented to instantly relay complaints regarding catering and food quality in premium trains—such as Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, and Shatabdi—to the concerned catering agency and senior IRCTC officials.

Relief from OTP hassles
Previously, closing a complaint required an OTP sent to the passenger's mobile phone. Often, due to network issues, the complaint could not be closed even after the problem was resolved. Railways is now working to make this OTP process more practical and simplified.

Separate monitoring for train and station complaints
Issues inside trains and complaints regarding railway station premises will now be registered and tracked under separate categories. This ensures the complaint reaches the relevant department—such as Commercial, Mechanical, or Electrical—directly.

PNR and QR code verification to curb fake complaints
Often, fake complaints were repeatedly lodged using the same PNR or device. Now, the complaint process will be streamlined through PNR verification and the scanning of QR codes installed in the coaches, helping to curb repetitive spam complaints.
