On one hand, the government is launching apps like Sanchar Saathi to prevent mobile number-related fraud. On the other hand, a website has surfaced that reveals the live location of any Indian citizen simply by entering their phone number. Recently, a website suddenly started trending on the internet that was displaying various details of people, including their Aadhaar number, family information, and address. People were simply entering a phone number, and this website was clearly showing the user's live location along with much of their private information. Let's find out what the whole matter is.

A few days ago, a website called ProxyEarth went live in India. This website was making people's private information public. Anyone could enter any mobile number on the site and see the user's name, father's name, home address, email ID, other numbers, and even their live location. The open availability of such data raises a big question about data security.

Website showed people's live location
According to reports, ProxyEarth is displaying information that is collected by telecom companies like Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone when a SIM card is purchased. In some cases, the website was also showing the live location of the device with the help of mobile towers. This clearly means that if someone has your mobile number, they can directly reach your home through this website. The open availability of such private data is shocking for anyone. However, when we tried checking some numbers on the website, their locations did not appear to be accurate.

The person who created the site has come forward
The person who created this site called ProxyEarth has come forward to the media. According to reports, this person's name is Rakesh, who claims that he is not doing anything illegal through the website. According to him, he only displays data that is already available on the internet. Rakesh told a news website that his aim is to generate traffic and promote his other digital products. It is reported that he also runs several other websites, some of which contain pirated content.

Data theft and fraud may increase
The open availability of people's data on the internet raises serious concerns. Such sensitive information being publicly accessible is extremely dangerous. Data such as names, addresses, family information, and mobile numbers can easily be used for identity theft, financial fraud, phishing attacks, and other cybercrimes. This incident highlights the weak state of telecom data security in India. As of the time of writing, the site is still live, and there is no news of any official action.

ProxyEarth has been active for about a week and is still freely accessible. According to reports, the site's creator is active on various web platforms, including social media. Despite this, the site has neither been taken down nor has any government agency publicly commented on it.
