South Korean tech giant Samsung has introduced its new Galaxy S26 series in the global market, including India. The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, the most premium model in this lineup, is the company's first-ever Privacy Display feature. This feature was prominently showcased at the launch event, but controversy has already erupted even before the device went on sale.

Does quality decrease when Privacy Display is turned on?
According to the report, tech expert Roland Quandt shared a photo on the social media platform Bluesky, showing the difference between turning Privacy Display on and off.

He says that when the feature is off, the screen uses all its pixels. However, when Privacy Display is turned on, the screen brightness appears lower, suggesting that not all pixels are active. A comparison of the images also indicates that turning on the feature impacts image sharpness and display quality.

How does Privacy Display work?
According to reports, the Galaxy S26 Ultra's screen uses two types of pixels. The first is narrow pixels, which are clearly visible when viewed from the front. The second is wide pixels, which have a normal viewing angle and are also visible from the side.

When Privacy Display is activated, narrow pixels are more effective. This has the advantage of preventing people sitting nearby from easily seeing the screen's content. However, this technology is said to impact brightness and display clarity.

What does the company say?
At present, Samsung has not issued an official statement on this issue. It will be interesting to see how the company responds to this feedback.

What's special about the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra?
The Galaxy S26 Ultra features several new upgrades compared to the previous model. As for the chipset, the Galaxy S26 Ultra features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. It now features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display. The device, as before, is offered in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage variants. The S26 Ultra features a 5,000mAh battery, but this time the company has added support for 60W wired fast charging, which can charge the phone up to 75% in just 30 minutes. The Galaxy S26 Ultra has been launched at a starting price of ₹1,39,999.
