If you frequently struggle with dropped calls or network loss while traveling on highways, you are not alone. According to a recent report, approximately 8 out of 10 (or 79%) smartphone users in India face this issue while traveling.

The report, released on Thursday by CMR (CyberMedia Research), surveyed 2,000 smartphone users aged 18 to 35 across Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. The findings indicate that poor connectivity impacts not only routine conversations but also people's earnings and mental peace.

**Impact on Business and Careers**
Working professionals face significant challenges due to poor network connectivity:

*   **Lost Deals:** 64% of users who utilize their phones for business admitted to losing sales opportunities or deals due to dropped calls.
*   **Dissatisfied Clients:** Two out of three users (66%) believe they have lost clients because of poor network connectivity.
*   **Fear of Damaged Image:** 71% of respondents felt that having to call a customer back after a disconnection negatively affected their professional image.
*   **Increased Stress:** 83% of users acknowledged feeling anxious and helpless when the network cuts out during an important conversation.

**What Do Experts Say?**
Prabhu Ram, Vice President of the Industry Research Group at CyberMedia Research (CMR), stated, "India has made significant strides in expanding mobile network coverage. Despite this, maintaining consistent, high-quality connectivity on highways, in metro areas, and in indoor locations with weak signals remains a major challenge."

**Can Phone Technology Improve Network Connectivity?**
The report also highlights an interesting fact: a phone's design and technology play a crucial role in network reception. Among frequent highway travelers who switched to phones equipped with triple-signal chipsets, 81% reported an improved network experience. 74% of users expressed greater confidence in call reliability, and 72% noted that their phones recovered signals very quickly upon exiting poor-network areas.

**Smartphones Became Costlier in the First Quarter**
According to another report by CMR, the Indian smartphone market saw a somewhat sluggish performance in the first quarter (Q1) of the year. Smartphone sales witnessed a year-on-year decline of 2%.

**What is the Reason for the Decline in Sales?**
The primary reason is the significant rise in the cost of memory components used in smartphones. Consequently, companies had to hike mobile prices, leading many budget-conscious customers to postpone their plans to purchase a new phone.
