PhonePe has introduced an AI-powered natural language search feature for an enhanced user experience. This feature allows users to complete in-app tasks using text or voice commands, leveraging India's rapidly growing artificial intelligence ecosystem. Built using Microsoft Foundry, this feature simplifies payments by guiding users directly to their desired tasks without traditional navigation.

This feature can process commands like "Pay Hemanth 20 rupees" or "Recharge FASTag," automatically opening the payment interface. It can also understand user intent, whether to make a payment, complete a purchase, or ask for help. Using a hybrid model of on-device and cloud-based processing, PhonePe stores all personal and transactional data within PhonePe.

PhonePe CTO Rahul Chari said that this launch represents a shift from transactional tools to a more intelligent interface that anticipates user needs. He said, "AI helps us build an interface that understands not just input, but also intent, and delivers value without compromising privacy or security."

Puneet Chandok, President, Microsoft India and South Asia, emphasized the role of Microsoft Foundry in supporting PhonePe's AI capabilities, enabling a secure and scalable digital payment solution for millions of users. This feature is being rolled out in batches across India and can be accessed through the global search bar, Help Center, and History tab in the PhonePe app.
