Every month, people have to pay various utility bills, ranging from electricity and water to others, often requiring the use of multiple different apps. WhatsApp is introducing a new feature to simplify these tasks. The instant messaging platform has launched a bill payment service in India, allowing users to view, manage, and pay all their utility bills in one place.

The company has stated that this service is being rolled out to customers in India gradually. It will soon be available to WhatsApp users on both Android and iOS; essentially, not all users will receive the feature at the same time.

**Billers across 30 categories**
WhatsApp's new feature is based on the BBPS (Bharat Bill Payment System) network. Through this, users can access approximately 22,722 billers across 30 different categories. These include payments for electricity, water, and gas bills, insurance, credit card bills, FASTag recharges, and loan EMIs. In short, everything from monthly bills to routine payments can be handled in one location.

The launch of this bill payment facility expands the scope of WhatsApp's existing transaction and public utility services in the Indian market. These services already include mobile recharges, metro transit ticketing, and government citizen services provided via automated chatbots.

**How ​​to pay bills**
First, open WhatsApp and select the '₹' icon in the top navigation bar. Next, choose the appropriate bill category and service provider. Enter the required consumer or account identifier and confirm the details. Then, verify the auto-fetched bill information and the outstanding amount. After that, select your preferred payment method—such as UPI, debit card, or credit card—authorize the payment, and complete the transaction.
