Short Passwords Pose the Biggest Threat
Cybersecurity experts recommend that passwords be at least 12 characters long. However, the report shows that 65.8% of passwords are shorter than 12 characters, and 7% are shorter than 8 characters. Passwords like 123 and 1234 are the weakest, cracked by automated hacking tools within seconds. Short and simple passwords pose the greatest risk to your online security.
If your password isn't strong, you'll inevitably be hacked.
Cybersecurity experts say that weak passwords are no longer sufficient to protect any account. Hackers now have tools that can decode simple or repeated passwords in seconds. According to experts, it's now essential that people adopt long, complex passwords that include a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Additionally, unique passwords for each account and two-factor authentication (2FA) should be mandatory to enhance security.
