Initially, this update will be available to ChatGPT Go, Plus, Pro, and Business users, while it will later be released to free users as well.

OpenAI stated in its blog that the GPT-5.1 Instant and GPT-5.1 Thinking models are currently being gradually rolled out to all paid users. These models will also soon be available in the API for developers, where Instant has been added as GPT-5.1-chat-latest and Thinking as GPT-5.1. The company clarified that the old GPT-5 model will only be available for the next three months, while GPT-4o and GPT-4.1 will continue to be available for the time being to provide users with options.
