YouTube New Feature: In PiP mode, you can transform a video into a small floating window that continues to play on your screen, even while you are using another app.

YouTube New Feature: To make the video-watching experience even more seamless, YouTube has decided to roll out its popular Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature to a wider audience of users worldwide. Previously, this feature was available to a limited group of people; however, it will now gradually become accessible to all users.

Who Had Access to PiP Before, and What Has Changed Now?

Previously, the PiP feature was available exclusively to Premium users outside the United States, whereas in the U.S., certain non-Premium users could also take advantage of it. Google has now confirmed that, in the near future, this feature will be released to all users globally. This change means that more people will now be able to watch videos in a small window without having to close the app.

How Does the PiP Feature Work?

In PiP mode, you can convert a video into a small floating window that continues to play on your screen, regardless of whether you are using another application. As soon as you exit the YouTube app or press the Home button, the video automatically begins playing in this smaller player. You can drag this mini video player to any position on the screen—even placing it on top of other apps—making multitasking significantly easier.

Which Users Will Receive Which Benefits?

Following the new update, non-Premium users on both Android and iOS will also be able to utilize the PiP feature for long-form videos (specifically non-music content). Meanwhile, Premium users will continue to enjoy this feature for both music and non-music videos.

How to Turn PiP On or Off?

If you wish to use the PiP feature, you will need to access your phone's settings to enable it. Android users can enable Picture-in-Picture by navigating to Settings > Apps > YouTube. If you wish to disable this feature, you can turn off PiP within the YouTube app's settings, located under the 'Playback' section. An Enhanced Experience

When using PiP mode, you can tap on the small video window to access controls or drag it to the bottom of the screen to close it. This feature is particularly beneficial for users who wish to chat, browse, or perform other tasks while watching videos. This latest update from YouTube will now offer users greater freedom, allowing them to enjoy their favorite videos without any interruptions.
