Making UPI payments through Amazon Pay is now even easier. Amazon has launched the UPI Biometric Authentication feature in India. This means you can now make UPI payments using Amazon Pay with your face or fingerprint, eliminating the need to enter a four-digit PIN.

This feature will be very useful for those who prefer quick online payments or want to avoid the hassle of repeatedly entering their PIN. Amazon Pay has become one of the first payment platforms in India to launch biometric UPI authentication.

Make UPI Payments Without a PIN
Now, if you make UPI payments through Amazon Pay, you won't need to enter a PIN. Instead, you can authenticate the payment using your biometrics, i.e., your face or fingerprint. For security reasons, this feature is limited to transactions up to ₹5,000. This means that if you make a payment of less than ₹5,000, you won't need to enter your PIN. However, if the amount is even one rupee more than ₹5,000, you will have to enter your four-digit PIN.

Amazon stated that in initial testing, approximately 90% of users chose the biometric option instead of the PIN. This gives an indication of the feature's potential popularity in the coming days.

What are the benefits of this feature?
The goal of UPI Biometric Authentication is to reduce "transaction friction," that is, to eliminate minor obstacles during the payment process. This feature will work across all major modes, including Send Money, Scan & Pay, and online merchant payments.

This feature is also quite secure because biometric data cannot be shared with anyone else, nor can it be stolen. Additionally, this feature will make it easier to make payments while holding your phone with one hand.

Who will get this feature currently? Currently, this feature is only available for Android users and will work on smartphones that support biometric features like fingerprint or face unlock. Amazon will soon make this feature available to iOS users as well. PIN-free UPI will not only save time but also make the payment experience smoother and more secure. In the future, this method could become the new standard for digital payments.
