Now You Can Do More Than Just Chat on WhatsApp—You Can Recharge Your Phone Too! Here’s How
WhatsApp Phone Recharge: The messaging platform WhatsApp will now include an option to recharge mobile numbers. Users will be able to recharge prepaid numbers from Jio, Airtel, and Vi directly through the app.
WhatsApp Phone Recharge: Now, alongside chatting and other activities, you can also recharge your phone directly via WhatsApp. This Meta-owned platform has launched a new feature in India that provides the option to recharge prepaid mobile numbers right from within the app. This means users will no longer need to switch to payment apps like PhonePe or Google Pay to recharge their phones while they are in the middle of a chat. They can now recharge their own phone number—or that of an acquaintance—directly through WhatsApp. Currently, this service supports the recharging of prepaid numbers from Jio, Airtel, and Vi only. Let's take a look at the steps required to recharge your phone using WhatsApp.
How to Recharge Your Phone on WhatsApp?
WhatsApp has added a Rupee symbol to its home screen. If you wish to perform a recharge, simply tap on this icon. After tapping, select the 'Mobile Recharge' option and enter the mobile number you wish to recharge. Next, confirm the operator associated with the number and select your preferred recharge plan. Once you have done this, you will be prompted to choose a payment method. You can select from options such as UPI, Debit Cards, or Credit Cards. As soon as you complete the payment process, your mobile number will be successfully recharged.
Feature to Become Available for Android and iPhone Users
This WhatsApp feature is powered by PayU. The company has stated that it will be rolling this out to both Android and iPhone users. The rollout has already begun, and the feature is expected to become available to all users over the next few weeks. It is worth noting that, in addition to mobile recharges, users can also utilize WhatsApp for other services such as UPI payments, bill payments, metro ticket bookings, and various other features. All these features can be accessed by tapping on the Rupee icon.
Preparations Underway for 'WhatsApp Plus'
Over the past few months, WhatsApp has been consistently introducing a steady stream of new features, one after another. This indicates that the company no longer intends to limit the platform solely to messaging, but aims to transform it into an all-in-one app. According to reports, WhatsApp is now also testing a subscription plan, which will be known as WhatsApp Plus. Users who subscribe to this plan will gain access to several additional features. However, basic functions on WhatsApp—such as chatting, calling, and file sharing—will remain free as before, and users will not be required to pay anything to use them.
