Google Pay has launched a new and highly useful feature called 'Pocket Money.' This feature is designed specifically for individuals who do not possess their own bank accounts—such as children, the elderly, or other family members. With the help of this feature, you can now grant limited access to your own bank account to another person, enabling them to make payments directly from your account.

This means that you will no longer need to transfer funds separately. You can permit another person to spend while retaining full control over your account. This makes the process of making digital payments even easier and more secure.

**How does it work within the UPI Circle?**
This feature is part of the 'UPI Circle' ecosystem, which consists of a 'Primary User' and a 'Secondary User.' The Primary User is the individual whose bank account is linked, while the Secondary User can utilize that very same account to make payments.

Google Pay allows you to add a maximum of 5 Secondary Users to a single account. This enables you to easily manage the minor expenses of your family members or employees.

**Two Payment Modes**
This feature offers you two distinct levels of control. The first is the 'Full Delegation Mode,' wherein you can set a monthly spending limit—for instance, up to ₹15,000. Once set, the Secondary User can independently make payments within this specified limit without needing to seek permission for every single transaction.

The second is the 'Partial Delegation Mode,' where the Primary User's approval is mandatory for every payment. This means the Secondary User will initiate a payment request, which you must then approve. This mode provides you with complete control over all transactions.

**How to set up the 'Pocket Money' feature?**
To utilize this feature, first open the Google Pay app and navigate to the Profile menu to select the 'UPI Circle' option. From there, set up 'Pocket Money' and select the individual you wish to add.

The person you are adding must also have Google Pay installed on their smartphone. Subsequently, establish the connection by scanning a QR code and selecting your preferred payment mode. If you opt for 'Full Delegation,' you will need to set a spending limit and provide certain details for KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. Finally, enter your UPI PIN to complete the setup process.

**How to make payments?**

Once the setup is complete, the Secondary User can easily make payments. They can initiate transactions by scanning a QR code, entering a mobile number, or selecting Google Pay during an online payment.

If the 'Full Delegation' mode is active, the payment will be processed instantly. However, if the 'Approval' mode is selected, you will receive a notification and must approve the payment. All transactions will be visible to both users within the app.

**Important Limits**
This feature is subject to certain limitations. Currently, you can use it to make payments via QR codes, mobile numbers, and UPI IDs; however, facilities for bill payments and mobile recharges are not yet available. Additionally, whenever you add a new Secondary User, a 24-hour 'cooldown period' is enforced, during which lower transaction limits apply. Subsequently, standard limits come into effect.
