Just imagine: could an AI step in for you during a job interview or a college viva and provide precise, real-time answers to the panel's tough questions? Tavus, a San Francisco-based tech company, has turned this concept into reality with "Griffin," its latest Human Interaction Model (HIM). This AI tool is designed not merely to answer questions but to engage in face-to-face video conversations, utilizing human-like facial expressions, gestures, and body movements.

Unlike standard chatbots, this new AI tool can interpret both spoken words and visual facial cues in real-time during a conversation, responding instantly based on that input.

**Introducing the Griffin AI Model**

This tool goes far beyond simple chatbots that only respond to typed queries; it is fully capable of handling face-to-face video interactions. It can hear your voice while simultaneously observing your facial expressions and visual cues in real time. According to the company, this AI model achieved an impressive score of 3.83 out of 5 on Nvidia’s VideoFDB benchmark for video generation. For context, real humans scored 3.92 in this test, whereas the next best AI system scored only 2.80.

The company recently shared a live video of this technology on the social media platform X. The video shows a person interacting with the AI model in real-time. The AI answers the user's questions seamlessly, without any glitches, interruptions, or lag. During a conversation, its facial expressions, blinking, and hand gestures are so natural that, at first glance, it is extremely difficult to distinguish whether you are interacting with a real human or a digital AI model. However, this tool has not yet been tested by external experts.

Griffin's Technology
According to Tavus, Griffin continuously processes even the slightest activity during a conversation. If you interrupt the AI mid-sentence or change your tone of voice, it immediately pauses and reacts in accordance with your tone. This model combines Tavus's existing technologies for video generation, speech recognition, and conversational understanding. This enables it to fully comprehend facial expressions, vocal timing, and the surrounding visual context.

The company believes this technology will prove to be a game-changer for practicing job interviews, tutoring, online learning, and completely transforming customer support. Users will not need to learn complex commands or prompts; instead, they will be able to interact with it simply by speaking naturally, just as they would with a human.

Can you use Griffin?
Tavus has not yet made Griffin fully available to the general public. The company states that it is working on privacy disclosures and safety measures before releasing this sensitive technology on a large scale. However, the good news is that a "light" version—Griffin-Lite—has been made available to select eligible testers for initial trials. The general public, however, will have to wait a little longer.
