Not November 19th—this is the day you’ll be able to download GTA 6; the official date is here..

There is great news for fans eagerly awaiting *Grand Theft Auto VI* (GTA 6)—one of the biggest and most highly anticipated titles in the gaming world. Game developer Rockstar Games has officially announced that the pre-load for *GTA VI* will begin on November 10, 2026. This means players will be able to download the game ahead of its global launch, which is scheduled for November 19. PlayStation 5 users can begin the download at exactly 12:00 AM (midnight) local time.

For gamers in India, this means the download will become available starting at 12:00 AM (IST) on November 10. Meanwhile, for Xbox Series X|S users, the pre-load will go live globally at 12:00 AM GMT, which translates to 5:30 AM (IST) in India. The primary advantage of this pre-load feature is that players can start playing the moment the game goes live on launch day, without wasting a single second.

212GB of storage space required
Now, let’s address the biggest challenge associated with this game: its file size, which could potentially fill up your console’s storage entirely. According to Rockstar Games, you will need approximately 212GB of free storage space on your console to download the game. While this size may vary slightly depending on the specific console, it ranks as one of the largest game downloads in the history of console gaming.

If you are running low on space, you will need to delete some older games or move files to an external hard drive before starting the download. Additionally, a very fast and stable internet connection is essential to download a file of this massive size. News for Fans of Discs and Physical Copies
For gamers who prefer playing via discs (physical copies) or enjoy purchasing games directly from stores, Rockstar’s "code-in-box" editions will be available at retail outlets starting November 12. However, the exact timing and pricing for these physical copies in India will depend entirely on your local retailers.

Official Launch Timeline
GTA VI is officially set to launch on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. On the day of the launch, Rockstar Games will offer some additional treats for fans: players will be able to download printable GTA VI cover art and a map of the game’s world—Leonida—directly from the company’s website. Furthermore, shortly after the game’s release, a physical double-sided poster will be made available for purchase through Rockstar’s official store. With pre-loading starting well in advance, fans will have ample time to prepare their consoles and avoid any last-minute rush.
