No more phone hanging or storage filling up! Truecaller Lite has launched—designed specifically for phones with low RAM..

Truecaller Lite, a lightweight version of the caller identification app, was launched in India on Tuesday. According to the company, it has been designed for Android smartphones with limited storage and low memory. It is claimed that Truecaller Lite includes all the essential features of the main app, such as caller ID, spam and fraud call blocking, call history, contacts, and number search. It occupies only about 10MB of storage on a phone and can run smoothly even on devices with up to 4GB of RAM.

Features of Truecaller Lite
The company states that Truecaller Lite is a distinct, native Android app built from the ground up for smartphones with limited memory and processing power. It is designed to focus on essential calling and spam protection features while consuming minimal storage, memory, and mobile data.

In a statement, Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller, explained that the app was developed in response to requests from users with older or entry-level Android smartphones—users who either lacked the storage required for the main app or found that the main app did not run smoothly on their devices.

According to Truecaller, this lightweight version has access to the same database and detection system as the main app and adheres to the same privacy standards. The company also asserts that the level of protection against spam and fraud calls remains identical across both versions.

Consequently, users can identify callers before answering and block unwanted calls using Truecaller Lite. It also consolidates call history, contacts, and number search into one place. Like the main app, it features an "after-call" screen that shows users whom they have just spoken with. It works for both incoming and outgoing calls.

However, the company has clarified that certain Truecaller features are not available on Truecaller Lite. These include messaging, voicemail, family protection, and an AI assistant. According to the company, this is a deliberate decision to keep the app's size small and its speed fast.

Truecaller Lite is now available for download via the Google Play Store.
