For instance, if you lose ₹20,000, a recovery of approximately ₹17,000 is possible; however, in the event of a ₹50,000 loss, the maximum compensation would be ₹25,000. It is important to note that there are certain conditions attached to this benefit.

To avail of this relief, specific conditions must be met. The most crucial requirement is timely reporting. If you lodge a complaint with your bank or the cyber helpline within five days of the fraud occurring, the likelihood of receiving compensation increases significantly. A delay in reporting could weaken your claim.

**What is the 'Shadow Reversal' facility?**
The RBI has also incorporated a "shadow reversal" facility into this system. This means that the bank can temporarily credit the disputed amount back to your account while the investigation is ongoing, thereby providing immediate relief. A notable feature of this scheme is that compensation may be available in certain cases even if the customer inadvertently shared an OTP or account details, provided the fraud was not committed intentionally.
