New Instagram Feature: Customize Your Profile Grid—Here’s How

Instagram has rolled out a new customization feature for millions of users, allowing them to rearrange their profile grids to their liking. Instagram confirmed this via its official handle. In a blog post, the platform explained that the new update enables users to arrange their posts according to personal preferences, branding goals, and creative presentation styles.

Ability to Modify the Grid

According to Instagram’s official announcement, users can reorder photos already posted to their profiles. Users can shift posts around within the grid—moving them up, down, or sideways—without altering the original upload date. They will have access to a “Reorder Grid” option. To modify the grid, users simply need to long-press a post; once the reorder option appears, they can drag the post to their desired location.

After reordering, the grid layout visible to other users on the profile will change. Previously, the profile grid displayed posts strictly in chronological order, forcing users to delete or hide posts if they wanted to rearrange the layout. Users had been anticipating this feature for a long time. It now offers the flexibility to customize the profile layout, a tool that will be particularly helpful for creators looking to organize their posts effectively.

First, update Instagram to the latest version and log in to the app.
Once logged in, navigate to your main profile page where the grid is displayed.
Long-press the specific post you wish to move or change.
You will see options such as “Remove from main grid,” “Pin to your main grid,” and “Reorder Grid.”
Tap on “Reorder Grid” and drag the post to your desired position.
