Most useful feature coming to WhatsApp Web: You will be able to make group calls with 32 people..
WhatsApp Web Group Calls: A major update is coming soon for WhatsApp Web users. According to reports, users will soon be able to make group voice and video calls with up to 32 people directly from their browsers. Previously, this feature was available only on the mobile and desktop apps. With the arrival of this new feature, users will no longer need to open a separate app for group calls. Currently, the feature is being tested with beta users.
Group calling directly from the browser
According to a report by WABetaInfo, a group calling feature is being added to WhatsApp Web. Following this update, users will be able to initiate voice or video calls directly by opening a group chat and using the call button located at the top. Until now, WhatsApp Web has only supported one-on-one calls, requiring users to switch to the mobile or desktop app for group calls. The new feature will offer greater convenience. Notably, users will have the option to include only specific members in the call rather than calling the entire group.
Up to 32 participants; security remains intact.
According to the report, group voice and video calls on WhatsApp Web will support up to 32 participants. This limit matches that of the mobile and desktop versions. The company has also clarified that all calls made via the web will be protected by end-to-end encryption. This means that no one—other than the participants—will be able to listen to or view the conversation. Even WhatsApp and its parent company, Meta, will not have access to the content of these calls, ensuring that user privacy and security remain uncompromised.
Support for call links, waiting rooms, and screen sharing
A "call link" feature is also being introduced to WhatsApp Web. This allows users to generate and share a unique link, enabling others to join the call easily. These links will automatically expire if left inactive for 30 days. Additionally, a "waiting room" feature will be included, allowing the host to admit participants into the call. A screen-sharing feature will also be available during video calls, allowing users to share presentations, documents, or anything else on their screens. Currently, this feature is available to select beta testers; while the company has not disclosed a launch timeline for the stable version, it is expected to be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks.
