Meta New Tool: To address a major concern for creators, Meta has introduced a new mobile-only feature to further strengthen the security of their content. It's often seen that a creator's hard-earned reel is copied without permission and even goes viral. To address this problem, Meta has released a new tool called Facebook Content Protection, which will detect any copied reel and immediately notify the original creator.
Notifications will be sent as soon as the content is stolen.
As soon as the system identifies a copy of a reel, an alert is immediately sent to the creator. After receiving this notification, the creator can decide what to do next. They can either block the reach of the copied Reel, review its performance, add their own credit link, or abandon the claim if they wish.
Meta also offers an allow list feature, which is useful for creators who get their videos reposted by others through partnerships or permission. However, it's important to note that Instagram Reels can only be tracked if they are also shared on Facebook, either by uploading directly to Facebook or by selecting the Share to Facebook option. Once the Reel is in the Facebook system, the tool begins scanning for copies of it on both platforms.
New System Powered by Rights Manager Technology
This feature in Meta uses the same advanced technology as Rights Manager, which provides detailed reports on matching content. This includes how similar the copy is, how many views the video received, and how many followers the other profile has. Content matching is on by default, meaning creators don't need to enable it separately.
Meta's Goal
Meta says this move is a major step toward promoting original and genuine content on the platform. The company recently removed 10 million fake or plagiarized profiles and took action against over 500,000 accounts involved in spam and fake engagement.
This new tool will be automatically enabled for eligible creators enrolled in Meta's monetization program. Creators using Rights Manager will also be able to access it. They will see the relevant options in their Feed, Professional Dashboard, or profile.
Currently available only on mobile
Currently, this feature is only available on Meta's mobile app, but the company is testing its integration into the desktop Professional Dashboard as well. This tool is considered a major relief for creators, as it will not only protect their hard work but also ensure they receive proper credit and recognition.
