Meta AI Glasses: Social media company Meta is set to launch two new models of Ray-Ban smart glasses. These glasses are designed specifically for people who wear prescription eyewear. Although Meta—along with its partner, EssilorLuxottica—already offers Ray-Ban smart glasses that support prescription lenses, this marks the first time that models designed *specifically* for prescription wearers will be introduced. These new glasses will be available in two designs: one square-shaped and the other round. They will be sold primarily through optical stores and eye-care channels. These will not constitute a new generation of Meta's smart glasses, but rather will be based on existing technology.

Names of Meta's Smart Glasses
Social media company Meta considers smart glasses to be a crucial component of its Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy. Last year, the company launched a new version of its Ray-Ban smart glasses. Additionally, it introduced—for the first time—a model featuring a built-in display screen, dubbed "Meta Ray-Ban Displays." The codenames for these new smart glasses are "Scribbler" and "Blazer."

New AI Glasses for Prescription Wearers
These models are being developed specifically for individuals who wear prescription glasses. They were first spotted in filings submitted to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC); before this, no information had surfaced regarding their specific design or their emphasis on prescription compatibility.

Earlier this year, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg hinted that the company would increasingly focus on prescription eyewear wearers in the future. During a meeting, he noted that billions of people worldwide wear glasses or contact lenses to correct their vision.

It is worth noting that Meta has achieved early success in the smart glasses market. Now, other major tech companies—including Apple—are also making inroads into this sector. According to reports, Apple could begin selling its first pair of smart glasses as early as next year. However, these glasses will feature neither a display nor an Augmented Reality (AR) feature.
