MakeMyTrip will allow users to converse with its Myra assistant.
The online travel company said in a press release that this initiative aims to resolve high-intent travel queries and help users begin trip planning through conversational prompts. As part of the partnership, MakeMyTrip has integrated OpenAI's APIs into its app. These APIs will support new AI-driven functions in its trip planning assistant, Myra, helping travelers convert conversation-based ideas into booking options on the platform.

MakeMyTrip stated that this integration will enable the company to react more quickly to changing travel intent by providing structured, transaction-ready options for flights, hotels, and other related services. It further stated that this represents a shift from relying solely on passive search traffic to a more direct role in AI-led discovery.

OpenAI stated that its technology is being used to make travel planning feel like an interactive conversation, with itineraries and recommendations tailored to what travelers actually want. It also stated that advanced AI can strengthen consumer engagement beyond internal business use.

MakeMyTrip stated that it has invested in AI and machine learning for years and has applied these systems to the travel journey, from inspiration and search to booking and post-sales support. The company stated that Myra is supported by a large language architecture and proprietary models built on travel-intent data.

The company stated that Myra now manages over 50,000 interactions daily and operates in multiple languages, including Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and English. It also stated that over 45 percent of queries come from Tier-2 and smaller cities, and voice-based interactions are significantly higher in non-metro areas.
