During its major product showcase, 'Tinder Sparks 2026,' Tinder announced a host of new features and upgrades. At the event, the company revealed that it will now utilize AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to significantly improve user safety and the overall matching experience within the app. The company introduced new safety tools, a 'Discovery Mode,' a video dating feature, and AI-powered tools designed to enhance user profiles. Additionally, a new 'Events' section is being added to the app, enabling users to search for local events happening in their vicinity and attend them to meet people in person. The company states that the objective behind these changes is to make online dating safer, more enjoyable, and more interactive.
Tinder’s New AI Safety Features Will Keep Users Secure
The company’s most significant update focuses on its safety features. Tinder’s existing features—such as 'Does This Bother You?' (DTBY) and 'Are You Sure?' (AYS)—have now been upgraded using LLM technology. This enhancement allows the app to identify harmful or offensive messages with greater accuracy than ever before. The DTBY feature can now automatically blur such messages, giving the user a visual warning before they choose to read the content. This new feature, dubbed 'Auto Blur,' is set to undergo beta testing globally starting in April. Meanwhile, the upgraded version of the AYS feature is scheduled to enter its testing phase during the second quarter of this year. Furthermore, the company has launched a video liveness and facial detection technology called 'Face Check,' which will be mandatory for all new users. The primary goal of this initiative is to curb the proliferation of fake accounts and scams.
Tinder Introduces Another New Dating Feature
Tinder has also introduced several new avenues for users to connect with new people. The app will soon feature a new 'Events' section, allowing users to discover live events taking place in their local area and attend them to meet other people in person. Currently, this feature is undergoing beta testing in Los Angeles. Additionally, a "Video Speed Dating" feature is being added to the app, facilitating brief, three-minute video conversations between two users. If both parties enjoy the interaction, they have the option to extend the session. The company has also launched two new modes: "Music Mode" and "Astrology Mode." In Music Mode, users can add up to 20 of their favorite songs to their profile and use Spotify to match with others who share similar musical tastes. Meanwhile, Astrology Mode allows users to search for potential matches based on their sun signs and "Energy Cards."
Tinder Introduces Additional Interesting Features
Furthermore, the company has added several other intriguing features. The "Double Date" feature—originally introduced last year—is now being rolled out globally. This feature allows two friends to team up and go on a date with another pair, and even enables them to add double-date ideas within the app. Separately, "College Mode" is currently being piloted in the USA and UK, allowing students from different colleges to connect with one another. Tinder has also introduced AI-powered "Photo Enhance" and "Camera Roll Scan" features designed to improve profile photos and provide users with personalized suggestions. The app's design has also undergone changes, featuring full-screen photos, new animations, and an improved profile page layout. Additionally, the new "Learning Mode" will analyze user preferences to suggest better matches, while the "Chemistry" feature will present daily AI-curated matches based on the user's behavioral patterns.
