Major Government Alert: No Leniency for Those Sharing Photos Without Permission..

Report Leaked Photos Online: In light of rising cybercrimes and the abuse involving Non-Consensual Intimate Images (NCII), technology is now being leveraged to provide solutions. Through government-backed awareness campaigns, individuals can now have their private images removed from the internet without revealing their identity or uploading the actual photos.

To bolster digital security, the government (specifically the I4C under the Ministry of Home Affairs) has shared new information. The government states that, through the platform StopNCII.org, victims can generate a digital "hash" (unique identifier) for their morphed or leaked images, thereby blocking them across various social media platforms. This process is entirely confidential and does not require the user to upload the original image anywhere.

**Government Initiatives and New Security Protocols**

Given the escalating number of cybercrime cases, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) is continuously educating citizens on how to stay safe. The government's objective is to ensure that no victim hesitates to file a complaint out of fear of social stigma or privacy concerns. Consequently, technologies are being promoted that allow images to be blocked without the need to share the actual photos.

**Digital Fingerprint Technology**
This system scans images to generate a unique code (known as a "Hash").
This code acts as a form of "digital fingerprint."
When this code is transmitted to platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, or other partner sites, their algorithms recognize and identify the specific image.
As a result, no one will be able to upload that specific image again in the future.

**100% Privacy Guarantee**
People often hesitate to approach the police or official portals for fear that their images might be viewed by even more people.
Under this new system, your actual images never leave your personal device (phone or laptop).
Only the unique code associated with the image is transmitted to the server.
There is absolutely no compromise on privacy.
**How to Block Intimate Images on Social Media: How to Avail This Facility?**
If you—or someone you know—have been a victim of such an incident, visit StopNCII.org and click on "Get Started." Upon fulfilling the specified conditions, you will receive a case number and a secure PIN. This will enable you to check, at any time, whether your photo has been blocked.

I4C Advisory
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, do not click on any unknown links, nor share your private photos on any suspicious platforms. If anyone attempts to blackmail you, do not panic; instead, immediately visit cybercrime.gov.in or call the helpline number 1930.
