Apple has launched a new budget-friendly laptop, the MacBook Neo, for its customers. This new MacBook features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display and is powered by the company's A18 Pro chipset. The same processor is also used in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Launched in four color options, this laptop is equipped with a Magic Keyboard with a multi-touch trackpad and Touch ID for biometric authentication. Most importantly, the company claims that this budget-friendly MacBook offers up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge.

The base variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at ₹69,900, while the 512GB storage variant is priced at ₹79,900. It is available in Blush, Citrus, Indigo, and Silver colors. Students can purchase this MacBook with an education discount of ₹10,000. Pre-bookings for the MacBook Neo are underway, and sales will begin on March 11th on the company's website and authorized retailers.
Competition-wise, Apple's budget MacBook will compete with Chromebooks and Windows PCs in the 60,000-70,000 price range (laptops from HP, Dell, Acer, and other brands).

The company claims that this latest laptop, powered by the A18 Pro chip, is up to 50 percent faster for regular tasks than a Windows PC with an Intel Core Ultra 5 chip, and delivers up to three times faster performance for certain AI tasks. Two storage options, 256GB and 512GB SSDs, are available with 8GB of RAM, but no additional RAM is available.
The MacBook Neo features a 13-inch Liquid Retina IPS display with a pixel density of 219ppi. It comes with Apple's Magic Keyboard. Like the MacBook Air, this laptop runs on the latest macOS Tahoe, features a 1080p FaceTime HD webcam, voice isolation, and wide-spectrum microphone modes. It also supports a dual speaker setup with Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio.
Apple says this latest laptop supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth version 6 connectivity. It also has a USB 3.0 Type-C port and a USB 2.0 Type-C port, both of which support charging. It also has a headphone jack on the left edge.
The laptop has a 36.5Wh battery that can be charged with a 20W USB Type-C adapter. The company claims the laptop can offer up to 11 hours of web browsing or 16 hours of video streaming on a single charge. It weighs 1.23 kilograms.
