LPG ATM: Bharat Gas Launches 'GAS ATM'—Find Out How It Works and How Many Kilograms of Gas You Can Get..
LPG ATM: Amidst the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, the country is currently facing a nationwide shortage of LPG gas. In many areas, people are unable to procure gas cylinders. The Government of India has also implemented several changes to regulations governing the entire process, from gas cylinder booking to delivery. Several modifications have also been introduced regarding commercial LPG cylinders. In light of this situation, and to help alleviate the gas shortage, Bharat Gas has launched an 'LPG ATM.' Bharat Gas has introduced an automated LPG vending machine in the Delhi-NCR region, which is being referred to as a 'Gas ATM.' This initiative will enable consumers to easily purchase cooking gas cylinders amidst the ongoing crisis triggered by the conflict in West Asia.
LPG Vending Machine
The ATM has been installed at Central Park Flower Valley in Sector-33, Sohna, Gurugram, and has been launched as a pilot project by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). The objective of this system is to address the persistent shortage of LPG and to provide users with round-the-clock convenience. Let us understand how this machine operates and what the refilling process entails. Amit Khatana, an employee at Central Park Resorts, explained that this is an LPG vending machine with a capacity of 10 cylinders, installed by Bharat Gas.
How Does the Machine Work?
Amit outlined the procedure, explaining that customers must enter their registered mobile number, after which they will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) for verification. Upon successful verification, they place their empty cylinder into the machine, where it is weighed and scanned. Subsequently, the upper compartment opens to accept the empty cylinder, following which a payment option appears on the machine interface. He further added that once the payment is successfully processed, the lower compartment opens to dispense a filled cylinder, which can also be weighed again for verification. The entire process takes approximately 2 to 3 minutes.
Equipped with smart monitoring capabilities, this machine sends out alerts when stock levels run low and facilitates the immediate replenishment of inventory. Currently, it dispenses lightweight and safe 10-kilogram composite cylinders. Its most significant feature is that it remains available 24 hours a day, allowing consumers to procure a gas cylinder at any time without having to wait for a delivery.
How Much Gas Will Be Available?
India's first Bharatgas LPG ATM dispenses lightweight fiber composite cylinders in 10 kg or 5 kg sizes. These differ from the traditional 14.2 kg steel cylinders, containing a gas weight of either 10 kilograms or 5 kilograms. This machine operates 24/7.
