Lenskart's big move is bringing AI-powered smartglasses, now capable of translation, payment, and health tracking..
Lenskart is now moving beyond just being a brand of eyewear, but also becoming a tech-lifestyle company. The company is preparing to launch its first AI-powered smartglasses by the end of December this year. These will be called 'B by Lenskart Smartglasses,' which will provide a new smart experience, not just for vision, but with features like AI, health, and UPI payments.
Ahead of the launch, the company announced that it is opening its platform to Indian app developers. Now, Indian developers will be able to optimize their apps for these new B by Lenskart Smartglasses.
These smartglasses feature the Gemini 2.5 Live AI model, which can perform a variety of smart functions in real-time, such as live translation, hands-free UPI payments, and natural human-like conversations. This means these glasses will make your everyday life much easier.
The company stated that the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor, specifically designed for augmented reality and camera-based AI applications. These glasses weigh only 40 grams, making them extremely comfortable to wear for extended periods.
A Lenskart official stated, "We want to integrate AI and commerce to make glasses not just a visual object, but a means of interaction and convenience."
Competition in the Indian Market
In India, these smart glasses will compete directly with Meta Smart Glasses, which are already well-known for their AI features and smooth performance. Therefore, users will expect similar performance from Lenskart.
The company has not yet disclosed pricing, but it is expected to be positioned in the mid-range price segment to make it affordable for more people. This move by Lenskart is not only a major step towards innovation but could also revolutionize the AI wearables market in India in the future.
