A Major Step Toward AI Accessibility
Jio said the initiative is part of its long-term vision to expand access to advanced AI tools across India. By making high-value AI features available at no cost, the company aims to empower millions of users—especially students, young professionals, and early adopters—to experience cutting-edge technology without financial barriers.
The announcement also aligns strategically with Google’s timing. Just hours earlier, Google unveiled Gemini 3 across its ecosystem, including Search, AI Studio and the Gemini mobile app.
Global Launch of Gemini 3
During the launch, Google CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted the rapid growth of the Gemini platform. In just two years, Gemini has reached 650 million monthly users and attracted 13 million developers worldwide. The new model marks a significant leap in reasoning, multimodal intelligence and agentic capabilities.
Google DeepMind’s CTO, Koray Kavukcuoglu, described Gemini 3 as the company’s “smartest model ever,” particularly praising its enhanced multimodal understanding and advanced coding assistance.
Google also acknowledged India as one of its fastest-growing markets for Gemini adoption, a trend accelerated significantly by Jio’s growing digital ecosystem and widespread reach among students.
Key Features of Gemini 3
Google shared several performance benchmarks and enhancements during the launch event:
-
Gemini 3 scored 37.5% on Humanity’s Last Exam, considered one of the toughest evaluation standards for reasoning in AI.
-
The model now supports improved multimodal processing across text, images, audio and code.
-
Developers can explore Gemini 3 through AI Studio, Vertex AI, Antigravity, Cursor, and other leading coding platforms.
-
The model is designed to power broader generative AI applications, including advanced problem-solving, contextual search and agent-driven workflows.
A Boost for AI Adoption in India
The combination of Jio’s expansive 5G network and Google’s latest AI launch is expected to accelerate the adoption of generative AI tools nationwide. With 18 months of free access to a premium global AI model, millions of users will be able to experiment, learn and innovate using Gemini 3.
