Is your ration card also getting torn? The old paper-based ration cards have a major problem: they tend to tear over time. This makes it very difficult to keep and handle them properly. However, a solution to this problem is now available: the PVC ration card.

In fact, today you can control your ration card entirely through an app. One of the special features of this government app called Mera Ration is that it provides ration card holders with their digital ration card. You can then get this digital ration card printed on a PVC (plastic) card, similar to an ATM card.

Install the Mera Ration app
First, you need to install the Mera Ration app on your phone.
After that, to log in to the app, you will have to select Beneficiary Users.
Now, enter the Aadhaar number linked to your ration card and fill in the captcha.
After this, you will be able to log in to the app using an OTP.

Download the Digital or E-Ration Card
After logging into the app, you will see your digital ration card on the app's home screen.
This ration card will have the details of the head of the family (the person in whose name the card was issued) on one side, and the details of the family members on the other side.
Next to the e-ration card displayed on the app's home page, you will see a download option.
By tapping on this, you can download a PDF copy of your ration card or the e-ration card to your phone or computer.

How to get a PVC Ration Card?
If you want to get the downloaded ration card printed as a PVC card, you will have to contact service providers near you who offer PVC card printing facilities. In fact, the government app only allows you to download your e-ration card, but you can get the same e-ration card printed on a PVC or plastic card yourself.

This eliminates the fear of your paper ration card getting damaged, and you can preserve it better.

Important Note:
When you use your e-ration card to receive government-subsidized rations, information such as what rations you received, in what quantity, and when, will be updated in the app. Previously, ration distributors would manually enter all this information in a booklet-style ration card using a pen.

However, now your details are entered into the POS machine available with the dealer. This information is directly transmitted to the server of the state's Food and Civil Supplies Department. You can also view all this information in your Mera Ration app.
