New features are constantly being added to WhatsApp to enhance the user experience. It has now come to light that the company is testing a new privacy feature, which may soon become available to iOS users. This feature was first spotted in the Android beta version and is now being rolled out for iPhone beta testing. Let us explain what this new feature is and how it will benefit you.

**Introducing the New WhatsApp Feature**
According to a blog post by WABetaInfo—a site that tracks WhatsApp developments—this feature is currently available to a select group of users running WhatsApp Beta version 26.19.10.72 on iOS via Apple's TestFlight program. A limited number of users on the App Store version may also see this option before it is rolled out to the general public.

**Improve Healthcare Access**
This new setting appears within WhatsApp's "Disappearing Messages" controls as an "After reading" option. Instead of starting a countdown immediately after a message is sent, this feature gives users the option to have a message deleted only *after* it has been read. Users can set the post-read timer to five minutes, one hour, or 12 hours. If the recipient does not open the message, WhatsApp will automatically delete it after 24 hours.

This feature works in conjunction with WhatsApp's existing Disappearing Messages system, which currently offers timer options of 24 hours, 7 days, and 90 days. Users can apply these settings to a specific individual chat or set them as the default for all new conversations. Notably, this is a distinct new timer option that you will need to enable manually.
