If you use Apple's 'Hide My Email' feature on your iPhone or MacBook to avoid spam messages, there is some very bad news for you. According to a new report, a dangerous bug (flaw) has been discovered in this feature that could expose the real email address you intended to keep hidden from the world. Apple has over a billion paid subscriptions globally, and millions of people use iCloud+. Consequently, this bug puts the privacy of millions of Apple users at risk.

Security researcher Tyler Murphy discovered this bug. He had informed Apple about it back in June 2025. When a new 'Hide My Email' address was created and given to Murphy to verify the claim, he managed to uncover the underlying real Apple ID email within just five minutes. This means that if a hacker knows the right method, they can deduce your true identity from any of your 'fake' email addresses.

**Risk of Real Email Exposure**
This bug could pose a major problem for those who used this feature for online shopping, various apps, or logging into suspicious websites. Once a hacker or a company obtains your real email address, they can easily access your name, phone number, and home address using people-search websites. This significantly increases the risk of spam calls and phishing attacks.

**What Should Users Do Now?**
Since Apple has not yet released a patch or update for this issue, you need to exercise caution. Until Apple fully resolves the problem, you might consider using alternatives like Proton's 'SimpleLogin' or 'DuckDuckGo Email Protection' for sensitive accounts. Additionally, keep a close watch on your inbox and avoid clicking on any unknown or suspicious emails.
