Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch the iPhone 17e, a budget-friendly iPhone aimed at users looking to upgrade from older models. Leaks suggest the device will feature a major design overhaul, making it visually closer to the iPhone 17 series.

Dynamic Island Replacing Notch

For the first time in a budget iPhone, Dynamic Island may replace the large notch found on iPhone 16e. If the leaks are accurate, this marks Apple’s move to bring a more modern and premium-looking display to its budget lineup.

Display and Design

  • Screen Size: 6.1 inches, same as iPhone 16e and iPhone 16.

  • Refresh Rate: 60Hz, which is standard for smooth everyday use but not ultra-fluid.

  • Rear Camera: Single camera, possibly 48MP, a significant upgrade over the previous model.

  • Front Camera: 12MP.

The design aims to give a premium look while keeping costs down.

Processor and Performance

The iPhone 17e is expected to feature Apple’s new A19 chip. While the GPU performance may be slightly reduced compared to iPhone 17 to differentiate the models, the chip is still much faster and more powerful than previous budget iPhones.

  • Expected Launch: First half of 2026, possibly in May 2026.

  • iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Air are expected in September 2025.

Price

  • Estimated at CNY 4,499 in China (~₹57,000 in India).

  • This places it around the same price as iPhone 16e, offering Dynamic Island, a 6.1-inch display, single rear camera, A19 chip, and 3D Face Recognition.
