Intelligent Road Maintenance Monitoring System: High-Tech Road Monitoring in Delhi—Find Out How It Works..
Intelligent Road Maintenance Monitoring System: High-Tech Road Surveillance in Delhi. Road monitoring in Delhi is set to go high-tech. The Public Works Department (PWD) is preparing to implement an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Intelligent Road Maintenance and Monitoring System to enhance road upkeep and streamline grievance redressal within the capital. This system is being designed as a modern technological platform that will aggregate data from various sources to provide real-time surveillance of road conditions and ensure the rapid resolution of civic issues.
**How the Intelligent Road Maintenance Monitoring System Will Work**
This initiative will integrate Artificial Intelligence, video analytics, and mobile-based inspections. This integration will establish a centralized system for identifying and rectifying road-related defects. A core component of this project will be an AI-based grievance management platform, which will consolidate complaints received through various channels into a single repository.
This system will provide officials with access to all relevant information on a unified platform. They will be able to track complaints, assign tasks, and monitor their completion within stipulated deadlines. Through this platform, all road-related grievances and field-generated data will be brought together into a single cohesive system. With the aid of AI, the sorting, prioritization, and monitoring of complaints will become more efficient, thereby ensuring timely action.
**Time Savings:** The identification of defects—such as potholes and debris—will occur instantly, rather than through manual inspection.
**Safer Roads:** AI technology will help reduce accidents by rapidly detecting potential hazards present on the roads.
**Transparency:** A digital record will be maintained for every task undertaken and every complaint received.
**Mobile App for Road Inspections**
As part of this project, a dedicated mobile application will also be developed to facilitate routine road inspections. Using this app, field staff will be able to capture photographs and videos of road conditions. These images and videos will be geo-tagged with their specific locations. The AI system will then analyze this data to identify defects such as potholes, cracks, and other forms of damage. AI will classify defects according to their severity, making it easier to decide which road to repair first.
