Instagram Update! No More Hassle of Cutting Videos to Create Reels

Instagram has introduced a new tool to simplify Reels editing; it automatically trims long pauses and unwanted segments from videos, thereby reducing the time required for editing.

Instagram has emerged as a highly popular platform among the youth. Users spend a significant amount of time here, doing everything from creating Reels to scrolling through them. In line with this, a new update has arrived on Instagram. Essentially, users will no longer need to manually cut videos into clips to create Reels. According to reports, Meta has added a new tool called "First Draft" to Instagram. This tool enables users to easily remove prolonged silence and unnecessary pauses from their video clips while creating Reels.

What is Instagram's "First Draft" feature?

Media reports indicate that the "First Draft" tool is designed for users who create short videos on Instagram but find the editing process time-consuming. Typically, after recording a video, users have to manually cut out empty segments, moments of hesitation, and long pauses—a task that consumes a lot of time. This tool promises to be highly beneficial for such users, helping them save significant time.

This new feature aims to streamline the initial editing process. Instagram analyzes the selected clips and trims away unnecessary silence and pauses. This allows creators to devote more time to the creative aspects of their videos.

Using this feature is quite simple. First, users need to navigate to the Reels creation option on Instagram. From there, they can select the video clips they wish to include in their Reel.

After selecting the clips, users simply need to tap on the "First Draft" option. Instagram will then process the selected video and automatically trim out silence and long pauses as needed.

Subsequently, all the clips will appear on a timeline. Users can play and watch the entire video and, if necessary, make further modifications to it.

Option to post directly

It is worth noting that 'First Draft' will not be limited to just automatic trimming. Once the initial edit is ready, users will be able to further edit the video within Instagram itself. Additionally, the tool allows users to adjust clip timings and make other creative changes as needed.

Furthermore, if the user is satisfied with the generated video, it can be posted directly to the feed or Stories. According to Meta, 'First Draft' can be used immediately after recording new footage on Instagram.
