Instagram New Feature: Instagram is now introducing a new feature that will allow you to control which topics its algorithm recommends to you. For the first time, Instagram will give you the ability to control the topics suggested by its algorithm, similar to what is currently possible on TikTok. This new feature is starting with the Reels tab but will gradually become available in Explore and other parts of the app. This feature will be called 'Your Algorithm'. Like everything else Meta is doing, the 'Your Algorithm' feature will also be powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Currently, the new 'Your Algorithm' feature for the Reels tab launched yesterday only in the US and will be available in other regions later.

What will the Your Algorithm feature include?

The new feature, called Your Algorithm, will show you which topics Instagram currently considers interesting to you. You can choose which topics and content you want to see more of, which ones you want to see less of, or not at all. You can also add new topics yourself, meaning you can update the algorithm as your interests change.

How to set your Reels algorithm

To view and control your Reels algorithm, open your algorithm by tapping the icon (two lines with a heart) in the upper right corner. This will show you the topics Instagram thinks you're interested in. You can then decide which topics you want to see more or less of, and your recommendations will adjust accordingly. You can further refine your topic preferences.

See your top interests: View a summary of the topics Instagram thinks you're most interested in at the top.

Change your priorities: Type in the topics you want to see more or less of, and your Reels will reflect your preferences.

Share your algorithm: If you want, you can share your interests on your Story so your friends and followers can see what you're interested in.
