Instagram Introduces Useful Feature for Millions of Users: Now You Can Edit Your Comments
Meta has rolled out a new feature for its social media platform, Instagram. Users will now be able to edit their comments; they will no longer need to delete them entirely.
Instagram users will now have the ability to edit their own comments. To facilitate this, the social media platform has established a specific time limit. The company had been testing this feature for quite some time. Initially, the feature was available only in the beta version; it has now been rolled out to all users. Meta shared this information via a blog post. This Instagram feature will be available to everyone—meaning both users with a Meta Verified subscription and those without one will be able to take advantage of it.
Benefiting Creators
In its blog post, Instagram explained that many content creators often make mistakes while commenting on their own posts or those of others, necessitating the deletion of the entire comment. Now, users will be able to edit their comments without having to delete them in their entirety. This feature will prove particularly useful for creators who frequently reply to comments from their followers. Typos often occur while commenting, which previously required the comment to be deleted and rewritten. Now, creators will be able to edit both their original comments and their replies to other comments.

15-Minute Time Limit
However, Meta’s social media platform noted that users can only edit their comments within 15 minutes of posting them. After this window closes, users will no longer be able to edit their comments; in other words, Instagram has set a strict time limit for this function. Furthermore, when editing a comment made on a photo, only the text of the comment can be modified. Within that 15-minute window following the initial post, users can edit their comments as many times as they wish.
Rolled Out to All Users
According to Instagram, users will see an “Edited” label displayed on comments that have been modified—similar to how edited posts appear on Facebook and other social media platforms. However, users will not be able to see a history of the comments that were originally posted before being edited. Instagram has announced that this feature has been rolled out and will soon become available to all users. If you do not yet see this feature on your Instagram account, please update the app via the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. Users will gain access to this feature once the app has been updated.
