According to a Meta survey, 19% of young teen users admitted to seeing unwanted nude images on Instagram. This means that nearly 1 in 5 teens has seen such content. This data suggests that content filtering is not completely effective. Therefore, it's important for parents and teen users to immediately strengthen Instagram's security settings. Let's learn about these settings.

Turn on Supervision Tools on Children's Phones
1. Sensitive Content Control

If you don't like sensitive content on your feed, turn on this setting. Set it to at least 'Less'. This will limit the amount of sensitive content displayed in your feed.

How to: Go to Settings > Privacy > Sensitive Content.

2. Message Control
Sometimes, suspicious people send Direct Messages. For unknown users, select 'Don't receive requests'. Unknown people will not be able to send DM requests.

3. Hidden Words
This feature automatically hides offensive words. Suspicious words can be blocked by adding custom keywords.

How to: Go to Settings > Restricted.

5. Supervision Tool
This tool is useful for parents. Through it, parents can see how much time their child is spending on the app. Controls can be applied if needed.

How to: Go to Settings > Supervision for Teens.

6. Limits Feature
This feature temporarily prevents non-followers or recent followers from commenting or messaging your account.

How to: Go to Settings > Privacy > Limits.

7. Nudity Protection
This feature automatically blurs suspicious nude photos received in DMs; it's very useful for women, and they can enable it.

How to: Go to Settings > Privacy > Messages > Nudity Protection.

8. Comments Control
People may use abusive language in your comments section. In such cases, turn on 'Hide offensive comments'. This will hide offensive comments.
