How to Prevent Mobile SIM Fraud: Mobile SIM cards have become an integral part of people's lives; however, SIM-related cyber fraud has also risen sharply. Fraudsters often misuse others' documents to activate fake SIM cards and carry out illegal activities, which can lead to serious trouble for you.

To protect consumers from such issues, the Central Government has introduced a highly secure and user-friendly solution called the 'Sanchar Saathi' app. The app's 'Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection' (TAFCOP) feature enables citizens to check exactly how many SIM cards are active against their identity documents. If you wish to view the list of numbers registered under your identity, simply follow these easy steps:

First, visit the official Sanchar Saathi website (sancharsaathi.gov.in) using the web browser on your mobile or computer. Navigate to the TAFCOP section on the homepage and enter your currently active 10-digit mobile number (registered against your ID) in the designated box. Carefully enter the security CAPTCHA code displayed on the screen and click the 'Validate Captcha' button. You will immediately receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on your mobile number; enter it to log in to the portal. Once logged in, a complete list of all mobile numbers issued in your name or against your identity document will appear on the screen.

How to Block a Fake SIM Online:
If you spot a mobile number in the list that you never purchased or no longer use, you can report it for immediate blocking. Follow the steps below to block any unauthorized or fake mobile number found in the list:

First, click the checkbox located next to the unknown or suspicious number.
If the number does not belong to you, select the 'Not My Number' option. If it was an old number that you have deactivated and no longer need, select the 'Not Required' option.

After selecting the option, click the 'Report' button below.
Once the report is successfully submitted, a Ticket ID or Request ID will appear on the screen, and you will also receive it via SMS on your mobile. Keep this ID safe so you can check the live status of your complaint later.

Upon receiving your report, the government verifies the number with the respective telecom company (such as Jio, Airtel, or Vi). If the concerned individual fails to provide valid documents, the fraudulent number is permanently blocked.

**Check your numbers periodically**
To avoid falling victim to any form of digital fraud, visit the Sanchar Saathi portal at least once a month to check the active connections registered in your name. Additionally, you can easily access these services by downloading the Government of India's official Sanchar Saathi App from the Google Play Store.

**Steps to take in case of cyber fraud**
If you discover that a major financial fraud or serious cybercrime has been committed using a fraudulent SIM registered in your name, do not delay. Immediately file a complaint on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in) or call the national cyber helpline number 1930 for assistance. Failure to do so could land you in serious trouble.
