TRAI has launched the Digital Connectivity Rating (DCR) platform, enabling users to check the digital connectivity ratings of properties such as homes and offices. Here is how you can view connectivity details on this platform.

Nowadays, when choosing a home or office, digital connectivity has become just as important as location, amenities, and other requirements. Often, the quality of mobile network or internet service in a building becomes apparent only after arriving there. Addressing this issue, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has launched the Digital Connectivity Rating (DCR) platform.

This platform allows users to view and verify the digital connectivity ratings of properties. A mobile app has also been introduced to facilitate connectivity testing.

How can you check a property's connectivity?

Information regarding rated properties will be publicly accessible on the DCR platform. Users can search for rated properties using the property name, certificate ID, or location. Subsequently, the digitally signed rating certificate can be viewed. The authenticity of the certificate can also be verified by scanning the QR code printed on it.

How is the digital connectivity rating determined?

Under the DCR framework, a property's digital connectivity is assessed based on established standards. These include parameters related to fiber readiness, mobile network availability, in-building solutions, and Wi-Fi infrastructure. Specific standards have also been defined for different types of properties.

Role of Property Managers and DCRAs

Property managers can register their properties on the platform under categories such as Public, Government, Commercial, and Private. They can perform tasks such as submitting rating applications, uploading necessary documents, selecting a registered Digital Connectivity Rating Agency (DCRA), and tracking the application status. The system supports the rating process for both existing properties and those under construction.

Indoor connectivity to be assessed via mobile app

A dedicated mobile app has been provided to DCRAs (Digital Connectivity Rating Agencies) for field testing. Authorized DCRAs can use this app to measure digital connectivity inside buildings. Property details available on the website will be synced on the platform with the test data collected via the app.

Information available before purchase or rental

According to TRAI, this rating information will help people make informed decisions regarding connectivity before purchasing or leasing a property. Users will also be able to compare ratings on the platform. The DCR platform incorporates a digital system for the rating process, reporting, certification, and publication of ratings. Additionally, it features facilities for eSign, online fee payment, email and SMS alerts, as well as the secure storage of property records, test results, certificates, and audit logs.
