To enhance the user experience for its users, WhatsApp continuously introduces new features; the app is now adding a new 'Username' feature. The introduction of this feature offers users a significant benefit: the ability to chat with others without having to share their phone numbers. If you need to communicate with someone you do not know personally, you can simply share your username with them. Every account can have a unique username; while your phone number will remain linked to your account for sign-in and recovery purposes, it will not be visible to those who contact you using your username.

WhatsApp has recently begun rolling out the username feature to select Android and iOS users; this feature will gradually become available to everyone. You, too, may receive this feature soon; once it becomes available to you, you can set up your username by following the steps outlined below.

**How to Set Up Your WhatsApp Username**
First, open WhatsApp on your Android device or iPhone. Once the app is open, navigate to the app's Settings.
Within Settings, tap on your profile name at the top of the page to access your account details. Next, from the Profile Settings menu, select the 'Username' option when it appears.

Now, enter the username you wish to use for your WhatsApp account. The username must be between 3 and 35 characters in length, contain at least one letter, and consist solely of letters, numbers, periods, and underscores.

Once you have entered a valid username, WhatsApp will automatically check to see if that username is available.
If the username is available, tap 'Save' or 'Done' to confirm your selection.
