According to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp updates, the company is working on a new "green dot" feature. This feature has currently been spotted in version 2.26.24.5 of WhatsApp Beta for Android.

With this feature, a small green dot will appear on a contact's profile photo if they are online. This will allow users to easily determine whether the other person is active on the app.

Easier chat backup management

In addition to the green dot feature, WhatsApp is working on a new backup management section. This feature will allow users to view old backups, delete them, and create copies if needed.

The biggest benefit of this will be the ability for users to save space on their devices and in cloud storage. Old backups often consume significant storage, causing phone memory to fill up quickly; the new system could help alleviate this issue.

Control backups via Android settings
