Government Warning: A New and Dangerous Virus Targets Android Users—Learn How to Stay Safe
A new threat looms over Android users. The government has urged users to take precautions against a dangerous virus. This malware steals private details from users’ phones without their knowledge or consent.
Yet another new and dangerous virus has surfaced, targeting Android users. While this virus appears to be a normal application, it seizes control of your device the moment it is installed on your phone. The government has issued a warning regarding this dangerous malware and has advised Android users on how to protect themselves from it.
The Government’s New Warning
‘Cyber Dost’—the cybersecurity wing (I4C) of the Ministry of Home Affairs—has issued a warning regarding this dangerous malware via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle. Upon installation, this malware can take complete control of your device and steal sensitive information, including your banking details, OTPs, PINs, and passwords. Consequently, hackers gain control of your device, creating a high risk of financial fraud.
Android users के लिए एक नया और खतरनाक threat सामने आया है — ऐसा malware जो दिखने में normal app लगता है, लेकिन install होते ही पूरे device का control ले सकता है।

In its post, I4C’s Cyber Dost explained that cybercriminals trick individuals into installing APK files on their phones under the guise of “Banking Apps” or “Customer Support” tools. The moment a user installs such an app and grants it accessibility permissions, the malware stealthily gains unauthorized access to the phone. This is when the real threat begins: OTPs, SMS messages, call logs, and personal data are stolen from your device.
This is precisely why the government has classified this as a dangerous malware—one that pilfers private details without the user’s knowledge. Users often remain completely unaware while control of their device is transferred into the hands of hackers. In light of this, the government has also issued a new advisory.
How to Stay Safe?
To protect yourself from any form of cyberattack, you must prioritize certain precautions. A single, minor oversight on your part could result in your bank account being completely drained.
- Never download any unknown or unverified APK files onto your phone.
- Always download and install applications on your Android phone exclusively from the official Google Play Store. Do not grant accessibility permissions to any app without fully understanding or knowing what it does.
- If you ever come across a suspicious app or file on your phone, delete it immediately.
- Ignore any calls or messages from unknown numbers claiming to be from customer care services, bank officials, or similar entities. These are typically fraudsters attempting to ensnare you in their trap.
