Google's Big Gift: Now Create Stunning AI Videos for Free with Google Vids..

Google Vids is the company's AI-based video creation platform. A major update has recently been rolled out for it. In August 2025, the Mountain View-based tech giant made this platform available to all users; however, the feature allowing users to generate AI videos from text prompts was initially restricted to paid subscribers only. On Thursday, however, the company announced that anyone can now create Veo 3.1-powered AI videos for free. Although the number of free videos one can create is limited, this update makes the platform more accessible to users who do not subscribe to a paid plan.

**New Features in Google Vids**
In a blog post, the tech giant detailed the new capabilities introduced with this update. The most significant announcement was that creating videos using the Veo 3.1 AI model is now free for everyone. Consequently, anyone with a personal Google account can now generate AI videos of up to eight seconds in length using text prompts or image inputs. Currently, users with free accounts are limited to creating just 10 videos per month.

Another major new addition is custom soundtracks. Users can now add AI-generated soundtracks to their clips or entire videos, powered by the Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro models. The company states that this feature allows users to create tracks ranging from 30 seconds to three minutes in duration. However, this feature is currently available exclusively to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers.

Additionally, the company is introducing AI avatars to the platform. When creating anchor-based clips or videos, paid subscribers can now utilize Veo 3.1 to generate a customizable AI avatar that maintains a consistent face and voice across all content. This means that this avatar can be utilized not only across multiple clips but also across different projects, without you having to worry about maintaining consistency.

These AI avatars also offer a significant degree of customizability. Users can place them within specific scenes and have them interact with uploaded content. The avatar's appearance can also be modified; Google states that users can fine-tune minute details of the avatar's look, change their attire, and even alter the background to suit their preferences.

Finally, the company is making it easier to create and share video projects on Google Vids. With the help of a new screen recorder Chrome extension, users can now record their screen—or themselves—from anywhere on the web. This streamlines the entire video creation process, allowing it to be completed with just a single click.

In a related development, users can now publish their finished videos directly to YouTube. This new export workflow eliminates the additional steps previously required—such as rendering the video, downloading it, and then uploading it to a video streaming platform. Furthermore, all exports will remain private by default, allowing users to preview their videos before sharing them publicly.
